- Unreliable in acute or rapidly changing kidney function.
- Not a substitute for measured creatinine clearance when measurement is clinically necessary.
- Use caution in pregnancy, dialysis, severe muscle-mass extremes, amputation, cachexia, or unusual body size.
- The 0.85 female coefficient is historical and does not represent contemporary gender identity.
- Low serum creatinine values are not rounded automatically.
